World’s Biggest Jackpots

Sometimes, when we think of big wins, we automatically think of poker. Poker is known for its huge winnings and people become famous for those huge chunks of cash they take home.

The biggest winners are not those who play the $50 or $100 slot machines.

The biggest winners are normal people just like us. We sit in those seats and comfortably play small amounts to make the day last longer. We do it willingly, calmly and just do it for the fun of it and if we hit any win, we are happy.

On record, the biggest winners have consistently been at a Megabucks jackpot. This jackpot starts at $7 million and it goes up and up until there is an eventual winner.

What makes this one game unique is that several wins have been reported.

For example, Amy Nishimura, who lives in Hawaii. At a young age of 71, she visited Las Vegas on holiday and won $8.9 million at a Megabucks slot at the Freemont Hotel, and she only spent $100! She was the winner of one of the slots linked to over 150 casinos in the US state of Nevada.

With games that are linked, such as Megabucks, more players meant a much higher payout for any winner.

Another winner was a gentleman by the name of Elmer Sherwin. He won twice. His first win was 16 years before and did so $4.6 million. His last win was for a record $21 million. He won both Megabucks millions in Las Vegas and it was also part of a network of machines linked statewide.

Although he will receive his wins in an annuity, at 92 years of age, he decided to donate the winnings to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. With his first win, he has traveled the world and wanted to help people.

The world record holder was a 25 year old man who won $39 million on March of 2003 at the Excalibur casino in Las Vegas. He receives $1.5 million a year for 25 years. And all of this for just sitting for a short time at a slot machine.
