Smith, 63, is in his first term as a county magistrate and has won $79 million in this last weekend’s Powerball draw. Smith has revealed he is unlikely to complete the full two year term!
Smith went into work on Sunday unaware that his life had changed irrevocably with this huge win and was amazed at the coincidence that the jackpot winner had come from the same ROCS station that he had bought his ticket. It was only when his assistant Mary Angelo checked the numbers that she discovered he was a winner.
Smith has already worked in his current office for a year and a half but still has two more years left on his term is very unlikely to continue to fulfil his obligations for the duration but has stated that he will complete all immediate work on his plate but is ready for an early retirement.
According to local sources the huge jackpot win has gone to a very deserving man who has worked hard in the community and has a strong sense of ethical responsibility. He cares for his disabled family and is well known for helping families who are down on there luck as well as helping stranded travellers and providing families in need with gifts during the holiday season.
Smith will take home a jackpot win of $30m after taking the smaller cash option along with the loss to state and Federal taxes.
